This early invitation to our patrons announced our most recent concert, in June 2024 nat the beautifully restored Görlitz Synagogue, marking our second collaboration with the Semperoper, Dresden’s world famous opera house. Three young soloists came to perform works by Seiber, Alma Mahler and Goldschmidt with us, along with other jewels of lost repertoire by persecuted Jewish composers.

Our festive final concert for the "1700 Years of Jewish Life" in Cologne, in May 2022, received much support from the North Rhine-Westphalia institutions, as is evident on the back cover of our printed program.  Appearing there for the first time was a special experience for the orchestra.

In 2018 we had completed 10 years of concerts, a fact we celebrated throughout the 17/18 season. This particular program had a spotlight on Rózsa, as we performed the entire first quartet in an orchestral version for the first time - the opening movement orchestrated by the composer, the other three movements arranged by conductor Michael Hurshell. Another focus was the city of Leipzig, where Rózsa studied; it was also where Marc Lavry, from Riga, was trained as a composer.

Another concert from our “10 years NJK” celebration. “From the New Homeland” reflects the origins of three works on the program. Zeisl’s “Slovak Variations” which he orchestrated in New York, before settling in California; Rózsa’s Andante op. 22, composed in Los Angeles; and Bloch’s Concerto grosso Nr. 2, written at Agate Beach, Oregon. The immense loss to the music culture of Europe, because of the purging of Jewish composers from the profession, is only now being made clear to audiences in Germany, as they are able to hear the “works of exile” for the first time.

The NJK's "Young People's Concerts" were initiated in 2012. Here is a poster from 2013, for concerts at the Saxon State High School for Music. The program included music by Franz Waxman, a native of Dresden, whose concert works - despite his world renown as a Hollywood composer - remain largely unknown.

In 2012 the NJK made its first appearances in France and Poland. This poster announces the concert at the White Stork Synagogue in Wrocław, which had been restored and reopened in 2010. The audience included a number of Shoah survivors, whose enthusiasm for the music (including works by Bloch and Korngold) and post-concert conversations with the musicians made this a highly emotional encounter for the orchestra.
